Tornado Damage

I went golfing yesterday and saw some of the damage done by the Groundhog Day tornadoes in New Smyrna Beach. I've never seen an area damage by a tornado before, and everything they say is true. The randomness of the damage is fascinating. One house untouched, while his neighbor has all of his windows blown out. The area was where an F1 came through, so I can only imagine the damage further west where an F3 touched down. Tree's were twisted and snapped like twigs and you could see where the debris had damaged the golf course by tearing up the ground as it flew through the air. Mother Nature can humble you very quickly and I felt great empathy for the people that went through it. Luckily, in this area, nobody lost their lives. I hope I never have to go through what these people must have, it was most certainly a terrifying experience.

Here's a link to a page at the National Weather Service in Melbourne for a summary of the tornadoes paths and damage. Pretty interesting stuff.
